GOALKEEPING

Line of flight!

A goalkeeper must learn to get in the ‘line of flight’.

This is the position between the two posts at an angle, to make it incredibly difficult for the player to score.
Goalkeepers must learn to stay low.
Hands by their waists and knees bent to allow them to jump to their highest and also fall to the ground quickly.

Your feet should also move side to side without touching and not to far apart because this can make you off balance. Stay at this height, the taller you are the lower you bend over but NEVER jump. Unless you are making a save.

 

 

 

This is carried out in the final third of the field.There are 2 players. A scorer and a goalkeeper.
The scorer takes 2 touches the first to make space the second to shoot.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

She must shout before her first touch to start the practice.The goalkeeper must start lying face down.

She must rise when she hears
the scorer then get in line between the 2 posts and the ball.Making sure she is in the balanced position ready.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

For this practice there are 4 females.
1 goalkeeper
1 passer
2 scorers
The passer passes the ball to S1 or S2 and they have a maximum of two touches on the ball the second resulting in a shot towards goal.
The scorers should try and shoot low towards either goal post.

 

 

 

 

The goalkeeper should get her hands ready, feet spread, knees bent to jump low or high, as soon as possible. If the scorer takes a touch towards goal to set up the shot then the goalkeeper should close down the space
