MA CITY : Essi Sainio

Welcome to another issue of Ma City' where we get closer to the city that some of the top people in our footballgirl world call home. This issue we talk to EURO 2009 star and Finnish international midfielder Essi Sainio.

Which city do you live in and why?
Stockholm, playing for AIK Solna, and just to see a bit of the world.

Has any other city caught your fancy where, why and what where the circumstances?
Berlin, it's a nice city with its own rythm..so open and always something going on.

What advice would you give to a tourist visiting your city and country?
Visit helsinki in the summer and lapland in the winter. Take a lot of time, and enjoy the nature.

What have been your most memorable meals?
hmm..breaksfast on the Bergmannstrasse in Berlin was something I did often in summer..einfach nur geil!

What is your earliest football memory?
When I went to my first team practise.

If you could change female football what would you do?
I would like to make it more professional and have full time coaches for all the teams.

What do you miss most when you are out of the country?
Out of finland? I miss helsinki, the water around me, the forest, my sisters and brother.

What items do you pack in your suitcase when on international duty?
iPhone + earblugs, PSP, vallet, soccer shoes, toothbrush and passport.

What would you do if you were mayor of your city for a day?
I would make a excellent dinner for all the homeless.

What would you do if you were footballgirl.com editor for a month?
haha, I don't know..change the colour to green!

What is the best meal you have had in your city?
I was at the vegetaria restaurant and ate the best falafel ever.

What would you save from a fire?
My football shoes and iPhone.

What animal would you like to be and why?
Tiger, just attractive.

What is your earliest city memory?
In the summer I just walked out the door and the sea was waiting for me...

What is your life philosophy?
I'm very impulsive and try to enjoy every second.

Who gives you/is inspirational to you?
All the people with targets who keep working to get there.

Sum up your city in one sentence?
City on the islands...(stockholm is built on many island)

Which fragrance or cosmetic product do you wear?
Paco Rabanne, hugo boss and D&G.

What are your favourite home comforts?
My bed and playstation3.

How do you unwind/relax?
Resting, reading and cooking good dinner, playing playstation or sleeping
