Freedom for Lene

Pending the leagues approval the Washington Freedom have signed Norwegian forward Lene Mykjåland. The 22 year young forward brings a Host of experience from Norwegian giants Røa from Norway's Toppserien league.

Experience from the World Cup 2007 and Olympic campaign of 2008 Lene is a player veteran coach Jim Gabarra had targetted for a long time.

“Lene will bring different abilities as an attacking player. We look for many things in a player and Lene fills quite a few of them. She is a proven goal scorer, a winner, technically very good, tactically intelligent, works hard and is a good teammate.

Lene is a very technical player that makes very intelligent runs and it will be exciting to watch her adapt to WPS,“ said Gabarra.

Lene also added her own excitment on joining a new league and playing at another level.
“To live and play soccer in the U.S has always been a dream for me. It's the best league with the best players in the world and to get that opportunity to play on that level, and to play professionally, is amazing.”
