Coaching legend leaves Arsenal
Scottish female football pioneer Tony Gervaise has left Arsenal football club.
Coach Gervaise was instrumental in bringing the Scottish players who are central to the clubs recent success during a time in which they had lost a number of players. One of the players to make an impact at the club is Scottish international Kim Little.
Kim along with her national team mate Jennifer Beattie have become a force in the Arsenal midfield, combining Little's creative flair with Beattie's aggression and positional flexibility.
Gervaise also brought in future star youth player Danielle Carter into the senior team, developing her game 2 years ago from the bench.
As academy director he brought about change in the clubs development of players a policy which has seen the club ethos change gearing towards youth development. He leaves their academy as one of the best footballgirl academies in the world if not the best in terms of the number of international players that have graduated.
