Action our Children
On 20th November 2007 Belarus launched the national charity Action our Children.
From December the 20th to January 10th Vice President Alexander Kosinets presented the charity over a video conference from the House of Government. There are yearly cultural and entertainment events staged during this time.
Companies from different business sectors and education establishments will join forces to help in particular children from children’s homes. The first example of this was the founding relationship between BelarusBank and Dokshytsy Children’s home.
There have also been great steps from the Belarussian government to speed up the process of help. The healthcare ministry will organize screenings for the children, the Education and Labour and Social Security Ministries will look at various situations children are in within their families and assist in dealing with the problems.
There are nearly 335 thousand single mothers in Belarus. Single mothers with low income will get financial assistance from the social security fund,” Alexander Kosinets added
Within the first year children received various gifts and presents such as computers and games, toys, clothes, footwear, sports equipment and instruction and furniture. These all came from different Belarusian organizations worth over Br577.4 million.
Participants visited 127 establishments which included childrens homes, orphanages and play schools, correctional and rehabilitation centers and 7 social asylums.
