T4T4TSilke sews fabric to Ambassador Team

Double World Cup winner and German legend Silke Rottenberg has joined her ex-team mates as an official ambassador of Germany 2011.

In this role Silke will along with Committee President Steffi Jones ( who was her defender for years ) help promote the tournament around the world.

This will be the first female World Cup held on German soil a year after the U20 version takes place and Silke has the support of her long friend and team mate from Frankfurt and the national team.

“Silke is a charismatic figure in German football and as such is a very valuable signing for the Organising Committee,” said Steffi Jones. “It’s great news that she’ll bring her enormous experience on board as she accompanies us on the path towards the World Cup. I’m really looking forward to embarking on some very interesting projects together.”

After 126 games for her country and talked of as possibly the best goalkeeper ever to play our footballgirl game. Silke retired on May 30th 2008 to help her club Frankfurt who she helped win the German league, German Cup and European Cup.Injury took it’s toll on Silke’s body and she called the last curtain down on her career in December 2008.

The game will miss her very much but we are all great full that she is helping to promote the game.

"I'm very pleased to be collaborating so closely on this project as a Women's World Cup ambassador. The 2011 World Cup is a hugely significant event for the whole of German football," says Silke Rottenberg.
